On 17th December 2015 the first Portuguese I_HeERO Project workshop “eCall Up on Air” took place on MAI’s auditorium in the premises of the Ministry of Internal Administration. The workshop was covered by several transport specialised media and attended by 91 participants from private and public sectors engaged in road safety, motorway concessionaries, Public Safety Police (PSP), Republican National Guard (GNR), National Authority for Civil Protection (ANPC), National Authority for Road Safety (ANSR) National Maritime Authority (AMN), National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and operational managers of PSAP.

The purpose of the event was to promote the I_HeERO Project to all the stakeholders, and disseminate the benefits to be obtained by the pilot project that will take place in Portugal. The workshop put special emphasis on the issues and the array of challenges posed by the implementation of pan European eCall.

The workshop was opened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Administration Dr. Carlos Palma, followed by the presentations of the Portuguese I_HeERO Project Coordinator and by five Portuguese consortium partners (IMT IP, GMV, I.E.P, PT-Meo and Intergraph-Hexagon S.I). At the closing session, the Secretary of State of internal Administration, Dr. Jorge Gomes, underlined the extremely effective contribution of eCall for the reduction of the number of deaths and serious injuries due to car accidents.

A live manual eCall demonstration, was also included in the workshop.
