SUMMARY:I_HeERO demo tour
DESCRIPTION: \nI_HeERO demo tour crossing 5 European countries to highlight benefits of eCall for HGVs \nAn I_HeERO promotional tour will take place between mid-September and end of October 2017 involving several European countries. The tour will highlight the road safety benefits of eCall for HGVs (Hazardous Goods Vehicles) as a tool to save lives in accidents and benefits rescue teams on the ground by providing information on load (especially if dangerous goods are involved). It will promote the use of digitalised transport documents like e-CMR not only for their benefits in terms of road transport efficiency but also for their added value for road safety. \nDuring the said period\, a rigid frame truck equipped with an in-vehicle system(s) (IVS) will tour Europe and stop in five countries: Czech Republic\, Greece\, Italy\, the Netherlands and Slovenia. \neCall will be activated to stimulate a collision: a minimum set of data (MSD) will be sent by the IVS to a 112 PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) and/or PSAP simulator and will be completed with further information on truckload thanks to the use of the e-CMR solution. \nA first demonstration was performed at the ITS European Congress in Strasbourg 20 to 22 June 2017. \nThe demo tour targets the road transport industry\, European and national decision makers (MEPs\, Transport Ministries\, countries which have not yet ratified the e-CMR protocol)\, PSAP operators and rescue services; European\, national and specialised media\, and other relevant stakeholders. \nRead more about eCall for HGVs\, and buses and coaches I_HeERO eCall for HGV and buses and coaches \nAbout eCall for HGVs and buses and coaches leaflet I_HeERO HGV eCall leaflet \n

SUMMARY:eCall flag issue: problem & solutions | Webinar
DESCRIPTION:As you certainly know\, an eCall is identified in the mobile network thanks to the “eCall flag”\, which indicates that the call is not an usual 112 emergency call but an “eCall”. That way\, it can be routed accordingly. \n\nPROBLEM\n\nEENA recently learnt that several countries have faced problems with regular 112 calls being routed as eCalls: it seems that some mobile phones activate the eCall flag when a 112 emergency call is made. Consequently\, the call is routed as an eCall and it ends at the eCall modem of the 112 PSAP. In case the country has chosen to have a different PSAP handling eCalls\, some 112 calls end in the eCall PSAP. \nThis may be an important problem from 1 October\, which is the deadline for EU countries to activate eCall from the emergency services’ side. Citizens in distress making a 112 call from their mobile phone may hear “modem sounds”\, think there is a technical issue and most probably hang-up! \n\nSOLUTIONS:\n\n\nInterpretation of the eCall flag: the Portuguese authorities have solved the problem developing the different combinations of bits in the eCall flag and routing the call as eCall or as 112 call depending on the combination (see attached presentation).\nModem mode: the eCall modem can be configured in different modes. In case the mode is changed\, the caller will be routed to the eCall modem but will not hear the “modem sounds” but 5 seconds of silent. After 5 seconds\, the call will be routed to the 112 call-taker (see attached document)\n\n\nWEBINAR:\n\nBoth solutions will be presented on a webinar organised by EENA on the 26 September at 2:30 pm CEST (one hour max). \nEmergency Services/public authorities in charge of eCall/112 handling as well as MNOs and any other eCall stakeholders are invited to attend this webinar. \nPlease join the meeting from your computer\, tablet or smartphone.\nhttps://global.gotomeeting.com/join/188316725 \nYou can also dial in using your phone. \nAccess Code: 188-316-725 \nMore phone numbers \nBelgium: +32 (0) 28 93 7001\nAustralia: +61 2 8355 1030\nAustria: +43 7 2088 1033\nCanada: +1 (647) 497-9371\nDenmark: +45 69 91 89 33\nFinland: +358 (0) 942 41 5770\nFrance: +33 (0) 170 950 585\nGermany: +49 (0) 692 5736 7208\nIreland: +353 (0) 19 030 050\nItaly: +39 0 693 38 75 50\nNetherlands: +31 (0) 208 080 208\nNew Zealand: +64 9 925 0481\nNorway: +47 21 54 82 21\nSpain: +34 911 82 9890\nSweden: +46 (0) 853 527 817\nSwitzerland: +41 (0) 435 0167 65\nUnited Kingdom: +44 (0) 20 3713 5010\nUnited States: +1 (646) 749-3117 \n
