More than 60 specialists from ITS and connected fields attended the workshop “Making eCall Happen” in Bucharest, Romania, 4 November 2016.The workshop addressed topics dealt with by the I_HeERO project, namely eCall technology for Powered Two Wheeled vehicles, Hazardous and Dangerous and Long Distance buses and coaches. The Romanian PSAP readiness for eCall technologies was also debated, together with business models of implementation and tertiary services for commercial companies that can benefit from the eCall technology.
The workshop consisted of three main sections. In the first section the Special Telecommunication Service, which is the Romanian 112 Emergency System administrator, represented by gen. Marcel Opris, confirmed the readiness of the Romanian 112 system to receive eCalls. In the second section, Andy Rooke, I_HeERO Dissemination Leader, presented the I_HeERO objectives and further challenges with regard to the eCall service. Furthermore, Teamnet presented their activity in the I_HeERO project, as well as their future perspective on eCall and connected technologies. The third section of the workshop concentrated on today’s eCall implementation stage and industry action to prepare the mandatory eCall delivery.
